An in-depth awareness of nerve injury & ways to avoid it. 26th May 2024

45 Australian dollars
Shibari Sydney

Service Description

James is a professional remedial and muscle therapist, as well as a dedicated Shibari practitioner. In 2018, he opened his first clinic, focusing on addressing musculoskeletal problems and injuries, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his practice. There’s no surefire way to NEVER cause (or get) a nerve injury, but there ARE things we can do to be better informed about how and why they happen and what we can do about mitigating the risk of that. Your teacher makes a living dealing with muscles & nerves and how to recover from and prevent these types of injuries. He has vast experience and knowledge to share. Combined with their experience in Shibari, there may be no better learning available in this area. Riggers - for the sake of your bunnies, don’t miss this one and bunnies - for the sake of your own bodies, don’t miss this one! This class is not a medical or anatomy class. In this class we will cover: 1. Anatomy Basics Related to Shibari: James will introduce essential nerve pathways and highlight areas prone to nerve damage in rope. He will share foundational knowledge to understand where and why nerve injuries might occur. 2. Identification and Mitigation: Signs of nerve compression or damage and techniques for adjusting rope to minimise risks including rope and harness selection. 3. Recovery and First Aid: Discuss basic first aid for nerve injuries and when to seek professional medical help. Ensure participants can respond effectively to injuries and understand post-session care to reduce long-term issues. 4. Practical Demonstrations: Demonstrate proper rope handling and placements and highlight areas that can be problematic in ties. Show areas and points to look out for and discuss considerations in harness selection related to nerve safety. 5. Stretches, Mobility and Nerve Mobilisation: Practical exercises for mobility and nerve health, suitable for solo practice and coupled. 6. Q&A Session 7. Resources and Further Learning
